Better Digestion, Better Health!

Better digestion means better health. It is easy to speed up your digestion if you take a little bit care.

An apple a day, keeps the doctor away.
It is so correct when it comes to your stomach related ailments. Apple juice and lemon juice, (freshly squeezed the better), both have a cleansing effect on your digestive system. It is advised that you drink these juices before breakfast to cleanse and condition your digestive system for the whole day.

Chew.
Any food, if you chew really well, speeds up the process of digestion manifold. So next time you have your lunch, sit in a corner of the room, take time, and chew well and enjoy every bit of the food until it melts in your mouth.

Avoid Cold drinks.
I have heard people, even the well read and the learned too, saying  that Cola is given along with junk foods, for aiding digestion. This is the biggest blunder I have ever heard. Any meal, when taken along with cold drinks, slows down the process of digestion. If it is very important to drink while eating, you can drink hot water or warm green tea.Avoid coffee with meals since it leads to more acid production in the stomach

Fast.
Fasting is a good idea if you have the patience to stay hungry for a day. Fasting once a week is good since it gives rest to your digestive system and helps in detoxification. To start with, you can fast by taking only water and fruit juices.

Spice up.
Indians add more spices and masalas to their food than most people. This is indeed the best part of Indian food. These spices and herbs,  especially, the fennel seeds, cumin, mustard, coriander, garlic, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, etc. help a lot when it comes to digestion.

Yoga.
Sit in Vajrasana for 5 minutes after you have a heavy meal. This aids in better digestion and assimilation.
Vajrasana
The golden rule:
Any food eaten at body temperature is ideal for the stomach. If in any case you want to eat something below or above the body temperature, you can try that but make sure you do not mix and match.Never combine a cold food with a hot one or vice versa. Always remember, "Your stomach is the heart of your well being."
