How to Stay Away From Asthma

Asthma is a life threatening disease, which cannot be cured once it occurs. It can affect any age group, but children and older people are more prone to Asthma.Even if it cannot be cured, we can surely control the symptoms and reduce the strength of symptoms with a little bit of care. 

How does Asthma occur?
  • Asthma occurs when the muscles surrounding the bronchus go ito spasm which makes breathing out difficult.Asthmatic persons tend to have a very sensitive airway.It becomes irritated very fast and reacts to it by narrowing,swelling or obstructing the airway.
Main symptoms of Asthma?
  • Coughing
  • Sneezing 
  • Chest tightness, or pain
  • Shortness of breath
What triggers asthma?
  • Allergies. Many people with asthma have a family history or personal history of allergy.
  • Cold air, humidity and changes in weather
  • Dust, fumes and smoke
  • Pollen,Mold
  • Chemicals, perfumes
  • Strong emotions, stress and tension
  • Other respiratory disorders, common cold, etc.
  • Dust mites, pet hair, etc.
What are the foods that trigger asthma?
  • Cow's milk
  • Eggs
  • Wheat
  • Fish ( shrimp and other shellfish varieties)
  • Sour fruits
  • Soy and Peanuts
  • Food preservatives that contain Sulfite group
How to relieve the symptoms and reduce frequent attacks of Asthma
  • Take self care with the support of family members.
  • Only way to treat allergy is to avoid it.Avoid all kinds of air pollution, dusts, fumes and smoke
  • Keep your home clean and dust free all the time
  • Have a healthy diet with fresh fruits and vegetables (avoid sour ones),oats and nuts
  • Avoid tinned and canned foods, processed foods and diary and milk products and cold beverages.Avoid all preserved foods.
  • Have a glass of warm lemon juice with honey every morning.This prevents mucous formation.
  • Do yoga everyday with special emphasis on Kapalabhathi and Bhasthrika Pranayama.
  • Get enough sleep, keep a cool head and stay away from stress and tensions.
